Reflections on Bristol Yesterday and Today

Drag Racing List - Reflections on Bristol Yesterday and Today
Popular journalist Geoff Stunkard took his annual trip to the Bristol national event and brought along his son John. The guys filed a fascinating race notebook and photo review that offers interesting impressions from youth and veteran, and then and now.

Thanks for getting this online so quickly, Bill. Actually, the introduction may be a little misleading as I have tried to attend the Bristol NHRA race for a least a day when I am not traveling. The basis for the story was remembering how special the place seemed when I made my first visit there, and how much it has changed. It is still a very special racetrack in terms of its environment, and the mega-makeover is indeed now a part of its overall heritage (and is indeed for the better).

Great Piece Geoff! My racing buddies and I do not go to the NHRA National Events anymore since the 1000 foot rule but your piece was a great read and a testiment to you and your son's day at Thunder Valley!
